A CROWDFUNDING campaign to try to grant a terminally ill boy’s wish to be buried with his late mother has raised more than £38,000 within days of it launching.

Filip Kwansy, seven, is suffering from juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia, and has been told he will not leave Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

The youngster, who attended Friars Grove Primary School in Colchester, wants to be buried in the same coffin as mother Agnieszka who died of cancer aged 33 in 2011.

She is buried in her home village of Wadowice in Poland, and Filip wants to be with her so she can look after him in heaven.

Dad Piotr launched a £6,500 appeal to try to pay to fulfil his son’s wishes, but now the total is getting closer to £40,000 made up of money pledged from generous donors. Mr Kwansy said he was unsure how much Filip remembered about his mother He said: “Filip wants to be buried with his mother, so we will need to organise that locally and re-bury them together.

“He wants her to look after him.”

The appeal is still open for donations.
