PUTTING up eight 20mph speed limit signs in two Colchester roads could cost up to £15,000, it has been revealed.
Colchester High Steward Sir Bob Russell submitted an Freedom of Information request challenging Essex County Council to give a break down of the costs to install signs in Hamilton Road and Constantine Road.
The council claimed the £15,000 figure was an indicative budget but the final cost was not yet known because the scheme will not be completed until the end of March.
But Sir Bob says it seems the council us being secretive over the breakdown of costs.
