BUDDING journalists from Colchester County High School for Girls took part in a nationwide news reporting scheme.

Twenty girls wrote articles on topics including the future of the UK post-Brexit, International Women’s Day and the EU headscarf ban for the BBC News School Report.

The school then posted the girls' work online.

Teacher Kirsty Thornton said: “The students were in charge of the whole process, identifying potential stories before researching, interviewing, writing and editing. They really enjoyed the challenge of writing to meet the 2pm deadline.

"It was a fantastic day and the standard of the news articles was impressive."

BBC News School Report gives 11 to 16 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience.
