MORRISONS has launched a search for Tendring's best food and drink producers.

Suppliers across the region can pitch for a place on its shelves giving customers the chance to buy more food grown or made in East Anglia.

The supermarket already stocks some of the foods East Anglia is famous for like Cromer Crab and Old Speckled Hen ale.

As well as listing Tendring suppliers customers will love, Morrisons’ new programme could go even further and identify suppliers whose food and drink is already recognised and enjoyed locally, but not yet recognised nationally.

Gregor Mcintosh, Morrisons regional manager for East Anglia, said: “Our customers tell us they want to see even more food made in the region and that’s why we’re asking the best suppliers to get in touch."

The best suppliers will be invited to showcase their products at an event in Norfolk, in April, before potentially getting into stores.

Morrisons will also be picking the brains of members of the Women’s Institutes around the UK to source and select the best in their area.

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 10.
