MP Will Quince stunned audiences when he sang live on the radio.

The Colchester MP was on BBC Radio 5 Live at the weekend when he was asked about applying for Britain’s Got Talent.

Presenter John Pienaar asked the MP what he would sing to impress him and his listeners with Nessun Dorma being mentioned.

However, Mr Quince was then surprised to hear the accompanying music begin and being invited to try out his vocal chords.

Mr Quince, who frequently sings to the masses at charity concerts, is briefly heard saying ‘Oh God’ before obliging with his rendition.

The studio erupted into applause before Mr Pienaar is heard heaping praise on Mr Quince.

He also received an influx of praise on social media with listeners lauding his impromptu performance.

Mr Quince applied for Britain’s Got Talent last year after being challenged by a Colchester resident on Twitter.

He was asked if he would apply if residents raised £250 for charity.

Mr Quince agreed, but only if the money raised was £1,000. In the end the total was £1,100.

However, despite keeping by his promise, producers did not call Mr Quince back to sing before the judges.

Yesterday, Mr Pienaar asked on Twitter if media mogul Simon Cowell had missed a trick by ignoring the audition.

However, Mr Quince said: “Probably not but you are very kind.”
