AN investigation has been launched following the death of a Clacton care home resident who had an alleged 'altercation' days earlier.

Officers were contacted on Monday, February 13 with reports a 70-year-old man had been involved in an altercation with another male the previous Friday at Regent House care home in Wellesley Road.

The elderly man was admitted to hospital on Saturday, February 11 after becoming unwell and sadly died the following Monday.

A spokesperson for Essex Police has said a 63-year-old Clacton man was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail until May 15.

Enquiries are still ongoing.
