  • LIVE music will be performed in Burnham this Saturday.

Burnham-based rockers The River Rats are back by popular demand to The Queen’s Head on Providence, and will ensure a good time is had by all.

  • A ROWING race day will be held in Maldon this weekend.

Maldon Gig Rowing Race Day will be held at Hythe Quay on Sunday, as part of the winter series of gig racing between competing clubs of the Essex coastline and waterways.

The Maldon Gig Rowing Club, formed in 2013, will be hosting the race day on the quay where members regularly train on weekends.

Their aim is to get as many people as possible out rowing and racing their two beautiful Harkers Yard Gigs, ‘Record Reign’ and ‘Ready’.

There will be three races on time trial, women’s, men’s and mixed teams, with an 11.30am start.

Crowds are invited to come along and support the Maldon host team take part against tough competition.

Entry is free, and it will take place from 11.30am until 2pm.

  • A TABLE-TOP sale will be held in Purleigh this weekend.

Purleigh Village Hall on Mill Hill will host the sale, which will see a variety of stalls raising funds for the maintenance of the village church on Saturday from 11am.

  • A CHARITY soup lunch will be held in Maldon next week.

Maldon Little Ship Club on Hythe Quay will host a soup lunch to raise money for the Red Cross foundation.

The club hosts lunches on the second Tuesday of every month. February’s event in aid of the Red Cross will have homemade creations on offer, with all funds going towards the works of the charity.

The lunch will be held from noon to 2pm, with a minimum contribution of £4.

  • AN electric and unique music band will be bringing an eclectic performance to Cold Norton this weekend.

The D’Ukes are a six-piece electric ukulele band who originally formed in Chelmsford, and will be bringing a free performance to The Norton pub on Latchingdon Road on Saturday.

The D’Ukes perform on Saturday from 8.30pm. Entry is free.
