THE MUM of a man killed in a tragic car crash has 'found a new lease of life' two years on.

Coz Powell, 21, died in hospital following a crash on Braintree Road in Gosfield in 2014.

David Bradley, from Braintree, was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when his car veered across the carriageway, hitting the car Coz and his friend James Simmons, 18, were in.

The three died following the crash and since then Coz's family has been raising awareness.

They have just recorded a film for a regional BBC programme about drink-driving, which will air in January.

Coz's mum, Gennie Powell, has also recently taken over a Burlesque business, which she sees as an exciting project.

Speaking about the filming, she said: "The film focusses on how the story unfolded and how we came to hear of what happened.

"I'm a little nervous and I don't know how it's going to pan out, it might be quite traumatic.

"We have got a segregation in the brain when we talk about it, but sometimes it's just pure emotion as it changes lives forever."

The show will be aired in the new year.

Mrs Powell is also celebrating the new year by relaunching The Burlesque Jems.

She decided to take over the Burlesque dance classes to help women feel confident.

Owner Jem Ayres is stepping down and Mrs Powell, known as 'Bitsy Sunshine', will be running the show with her friend and dance tutor Lizzie Cheeld, known as 'Lizzie Lovelace.'

Mrs Powell, a retired professional dancer, said: "It's a new lease of life for me, the classes are about celebrating being a beautiful, fabulous woman.

"It's a real confidence boost as I was starting to feel lost, and Coz would certainly approve."

Free taster sessions are being held at the Diamante Dance Studio in Chelmsford on January 9 from 7.30pm until 8.30pm, and in Theatricool in Colchester on January 11 from 8pm until 9pm.
