MORE than 100 people helped to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK - by dancing for three hours.

Fitness enthusiast Zoe King led about 120 people in zumba, street dance and Caribbean dance in memory of popular Demi Wright.

Make-up artist Demi, 22, died after suffering an aggressive form of cancer in February.

Her cousin, Mrs King, has secured a place in the Virgin London Marathon next year and organised the event to go towards her overall fundraising.

Mrs King, a former zumba teacher, said: “I wanted people to experience a range of fitness dances so we did them all.

“ It was an incredible day and in total we raised about £2,000, which was absolutely amazing.

“Cancer Research likes its runners to raise at least £2,000 when they do the marathon so just from doing this one event has helped me do that.

“I’d like to thank everyone who took part and helped to raise the money.

“Colchester Institute have been great as well - they didn’t charge us so every penny will go to the charity.

Each dancer paid £10 for a ticket. Cakes were also on sale alongside a raffle.

As well as Mrs King, the group was also led by Liarna Cooper-Baker, Amber Fox-Hammond, Katie O’Sullivan, Sanna Teather and Chloe and Francesca Townsend.
