TIM Young has been compared to a North Korean dictator in a parody Twitter account set up in his name.

The bio for Kim Yung shows a picture of the Colchester councillor with a red flag and states: “Your dear Leader, worship me and do my bidding. Hates the disabled, homeless, Tories, Christopher Lee and residents of Colchester. Sucks up to the Arts Crowd.”

Among his latest tweets are: “Queen Street was my idea and is only to be used by my friends at your expense. Be grateful I let you live in my Town”, and “I will fund Danish performance art to entertain me whilst I shop in Waitrose. Free Champagne for all fellow socialists.”

Another states: “As I have never worked a day in my life, my hands are very soft and don’t need gloves to handle ancient artefacts found in my masters shop.”

Mr Young, who has his own account under the handle @Tim4Labour, said it wasn’t the first parody account he had heard about in his name.

He said: “I wouldn’t mind if it was funny or sharp writing satire. But it’s genuinely lame and I just think ’what’s the point?’

“I do worry about these people and what they do with their time.

“It doesn’t upset me. I have grown a thick skin.

“Anyone who has followed my political career will know [the claims about hating the disabled and homeless] are a load of rubbish. It’s the reason I got into politics in the first place.”

He added: “I do have my own account and I reply to any serious and sensible queries that I get.

“Serious issues about the ward and council are always better emailed to me as you’re not limited to 140 characters.”

The Kim Yung account was set up in August and has 26 followers. Mr Young’s account has 1,603.
