TWO men have been charged in connection with a burglary at a Colchester jewellery shop.
Items were stolen from Ernest Jones in Shewell Walk at about 2.45am yesterday, Thursday, October 20.
Raymond Tauchert, 55, unemployed, of Dedham Road, Boxted, and Carlton Ho-Ten-Pow, 36, a construction worker, of Mario Way, Colchester, were both charged with burglary.
They are due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court this morning, Friday October 21.
A 51-year-old man from Colchester was arrested yesterday, Thursday October 20, on suspicion of burglary and possession of drugs.
He was released on bail until December 5, pending further enquiries.
Dave Robertson, centre manager of Culver Square, said: “We understand a break-in took place overnight at the Ernest Jones store in Culver Square.
“The police were called and quickly attended the scene.
“As the matter is now under police investigation, further inquiries should be directed to them, but we can confirm this was an isolated incident and we thank the public for their vigilance.”
Individual items of jewellery within the collections on display in the window retail at more than £1,000, with several costing serveral thousands of pounds and the display totalling tens of thousands of pounds.
