A FAMILY has paid tribute to a father-of-four who died in a tragic accident.

David Green, 32, was working on the Summers Park housing development in Lawford when his dumper truck tipped over.

David was seriously injured and died at the scene despite attempts to save him.

His father-in-law Steve Mason said the family had been devastated by his death.

He said: “Everyone loved him, you just could not fault him.

“He was my mate, he was everyone’s mate and there is nothing he would not do for you.

“I had known him since was 14 and we never had a cross word.”

David was married to his childhood sweetheart, Jade, and they had four children.

Mr Mason said they met when they were both 14-years-old when Jade was at Clacton County High School and David was at Tendring Technology College.

The couple had four children with their eldest sons being named in honour of David’s beloved Manchester United.

Mr Mason said: “He was a real fan and would travel to Old Trafford.

“He named his first son Harvey Rio in honour of Rio Ferdinand and his second Trafford.”

In addition to Harvey, 13, and Trafford, nine, David had a third son, Bentley, four, and a daughter, Skyla, who was three.

Mr Mason, who lives in Holland on Sea, said: “David would joke and say he would have a Bentley by the time he was 30. He was 28 when Bentley was born.”

He added David and Jade, who lived in Hazel Crescent, Little Clacton, had just celebrated their second wedding anniversary last weekend.

David also leaves his parents, David and Pauline, and sisters Emma and Vicky.

His parents said: “He was the best son ever and we are so proud of him. We love and miss him so much.

“His sisters say he was the best brother anyone could ever have and we will always love him.

“He leaves a massive hole in our lives.”

An investigation into the accident is being undertaken by the Health and Safety Executive and Essex Police.

David was working for Rose Builders when it happened.

Owner Steven Rose said: “It is with great regret I can confirm very sadly there was an accident at Summers Park, Lawford, on Monday where tragically the man involved died.

“The site is closed down pending an HSE investigation and we are assisting the authorities with their investigation. For the moment all our thoughts are with the man’s family.”

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said the call to help David was received at 4.38pm.

He said: “A rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, ambulance officer and Essex Air Ambulance were dispatched following a report of an industrial accident.

“They treated a man who had suffered serious injuries and was not breathing.

“Despite their best efforts, the man sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”

A justgiving page has been set up by one of David’s friend and raised more than £4,000 in a matter of hours.

Friend Samantha Eason hopes to put the money towards David’s funeral costs or a fund to make life “even the slightest bit easier” for his family.
