RUNNING a one-stop shop for budding bands and musical acts helps when you've been there yourself.

And Polly Haynes and Tom Eyers definitely have.

Polly is well known in the town for previous bands, Newton's Apple and the Polly Violet Collective, while Tom has been playing in groups since he was at school.

Now the pair have launched Pink Shed Presents, an 'indie label and production company that hosts live music events and champions amazing talent'.

Tom says: "The name came from the pink shed Polly had in her back garden where she used to have band practice.

"Basically it was this place that was so full of creativity and we kind of liked that idea of a place that promotes that kind of thing."

As well as live events, Pink Shed will be offering live video and recording services.

Polly adds: "We are setting out to create a new 'buzz' on the local music scene and offer a platform for upcoming talent. We have already hosted two very successful nights and have just secured a new venue that will be hosting a Pink Shed event once a month."

That's the Purple Dog pub in Eld Lane where Polly and Tom have organised a cracking line-up of acts on October 6 which will include sets by The Widdershins, Girl Guy Guitar and Rosalind A Whyte.

To get the ball running Polly and Tom are also currently running a competition to increase awareness of their new venture and help emerging artists get noticed.
