AS one Colchester high school announced it would no longer be setting traditional homework for its pupils, we want to know - is homework really an essential part of education?
Readers on our Facebook page reacted to Philip Morant's news with differing views this morning - some saying homework is an important way to teach children self-discipline, while others said it is just another unnecessary burden on children.
Some have called for more schools to move in the same direction and many commented to say they never did their homework anyway.
