COLCHESTER United is on the market - for £160.

Chairman Robbie Cowling isn't planning on selling the club, though, and the deal is only available on the Colchester Monopoly board.

Despite playing in blue and white, the U's and the Weston Homes Community Stadium will take up a pink square on the board, originally home to Northumberland Avenue.

Tim Waddington, U's general manager, said: "It’s every football fan’s dream to own their favourite football club, so we’re sure that this very latest and newest version of Monopoly will prove very popular with our supporters.

"We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy."

Emma Lodwick, custom games executive at board makers Winning Moves UK, added: "Congratulations to Colchester United, they will head a sports themed set in the pink section of the board."

Many of the Chance and Community Chest cards will also be Colchester-themed, after a public suggestion campaign, and game bosses have revealed two cards will penalise players for getting caught in Colchester congestion, while another will reward players for stumbling upon a Roman treasure.

Ms Lodwick added: "Traffic congestion was a big suggestion from the public.

"We’d like to thank each and every person who voted for Colchester landmarks and made suggestions for the playing cards."

The board will hit shop shelves on October 21 and will feature about 30 Colchester landmarks.

The game will be launched at the Mercury Theatre.

Only Colchester Zoo has previously been confirmed, on Old Kent Road, but The Gazette has been tipped to take up the Fleet Street square.

The board can be pre-ordered through online retailer Amazon as well as Fenwick, The Range, Waterstones, WH Smith, The Works and all toy and book stores.
