PETROLHEADS were in their element at the great Little Clacton classic car show.

More than 300 classic cars and motorbikes were on show for the experts to explore and enjoy.

Clacton Classic Car Club chairman Colin Mclean described the event as “another great day”.

The 1932 Clacton Queen steam engine was a popular attraction as were two US police cars and a magnificent 1989 Pontiac TransAm GTA owned by John Bryson of Mersea.

Neil and Elaine Wylie showed off their 1960 Chevrolet Corvette and Neil said: “We try to go to as many shows as we can. There’s a great atmosphere at Clacton.”

The best of British included Nick Gray showing off his 1932 Austin 7 which only does 50mph, meaning it took him 90 minutes to get to Little Clacton.

Nicholas Fairbanks, of Alresford, displayed his 1985 Lotus Esprit S3, one of 782 made and praised the show saying it had a great range of vehicles from “ancient old bests to more modern Ford Sierras”.

Len James, of Elmstead, displayed his 1949 Riley Roadster which he will be taking to Buckingham Palace in October for an event to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday featuring other classic vehicles from her reign.

There were also campervans and motorbikes including a 1960 BSA Gold Flash owned by Pete Long, of the Colchester Classic Motorcycle Club.
