A NEW study has revealed the tallest and shortest nations in the world - so how do you measure up? After tracking global growth trends since 1914, researchers have revealed the average height of people in the UK has gone up by four inches in 100 years.
According to data published in the journal eLife, the new average height for a man in the UK is 5ft 10in, and for a woman it's 5ft 5in.
European countries dominate the growth charts, with the tallest men coming from the Netherlands (average height 6ft) and the tallest women coming from Latvia (5ft 7in.) The shortest men on the planet can be found in East Timor, in southeast Asia, where the average height is just 5ft 3in.
The smallest women are in Guatemala in Central America - and have been since 1914 when the study began. The average height for a Guatemalan woman is just 4ft 11in.
