DISABLED youngsters were helped to enjoy a traditional school event by their able counterparts.
Pupils at Lexden Springs School, in Colchester, turned to students at the Maltings Academy, in Witham to support them as they took part in a modified sports day.
The schools were brought together by Active Essex and Power2Inspire.
The partnership saw 20 children from Lexden Springs took part in the Power House Games at the Maltings Academy.
Events included sitting volleyball and blindfold football so able-bodied and disabled students could play together.
The Maltings students were then invited to Lexden Springs to help out with their traditional sports day.
Dick Gibbons, head of PE at Maltings, said: "All of the children absolutely loved these events.
"It’s one thing having a teacher running things, but to have your own peers getting involved as our students have, means a lot more.
"The feedback from Lexden Springs, parents and children has been very positive and we hope to work together like this again in the future."
