  • RACE Cancer Research UK Race For Life , Castle Park, Colchester

WOMEN and girls of all ages and abilities will join together to walk, jog or run 5K to help beat over 200 types of cancer. If you're not taking part, head along to cheer on the charitable runners.

ATTRACTING crowds in the region of 25,000 people each year, join the fun of the Tendring Show.
This year’s theme is iFarm - how robotics and new technologies are transforming farming and food production. Look out for Titan the 8ft robot who will be making a star appearance.
There will be top class entertainment, animals - from rabbits and poultry, to goats, sheep, cattle and horses, together with over 250 trade stands and exhibits.

A SPECIAL treat at this month's SlackFolk with Martin Newell performing his poem The Green Children accompanied by The Hosepipe Band, in a preview of their performance at the Latitude Festival.

THERE'S a little bit of local art history on show at the Firstsite Gallery in a small but perfectly formed show that conjures up the artistic talent that made-up the Colchester Art Society.

Works by the likes of John Nash, Ron Sims, Joyce Pallot and Henry Collins fill one wall, while various brochures and cuttings give a little insight to how prestigious the society was.

This one day course gives an ideal opportunity to learn the basics of watercolour techniques, in the beautiful surroundings of Abberton Nature Reserve, whilst taking inspiration form nature and the natural environment. A CALVACADE of jazz musicians gather for a very special cause, raising money and aid for the young refugees stuck in Calais.

They include singer Tina May as well as local acts Chris Allard and Michael Spearman.
