A TOTAL of 200 homes across three developments in Colchester could be given the green light after each was recommended for approval by planning officers.

Persimmon Homes has applied to build 67 houses with a range of between two and four bedrooms and 20 flats with either one or two bedrooms on land off Axial Way.

Nearby air conditioning company Flakt Wood has raised an objection to the plans, saying they feared potential neighbours would complain about the noise when they tested equipment.

In a statement they said: "We do not have confidence that we will not receive complaints from future residents and this is a situation that we very much want to avoid.

"We are aware that residents disturbed by noise have an option to take private nuisance action and that

we would not have a defence of best practicable means if that course of action were to

be pursued.

"We would like to reiterate and to remind the council one of the main considerations involved in relocating from Tufnell Way was to remove ourselves from the residential area that had developed around our factory."

Derelict commercial units could be demolished to make way for 86 new homes in Rowhedge Wharf.

The new development features plans for two, three and four bedroom houses and is close to a recently finished 170-home estate.

East Donyland Parish Council has objected to the plans for a variety of reasons including believing infrastructure could not cope.

In a statement they said: The parish council strongly believes the infrastructure of the village, including the school and doctors surgery cannot cope with this increase in population without support or enhancement.

"There is insufficient evidence provided that shows how this will be achieved, which is a serious concern."

Flats, bungalows and houses adding up to 20 dwellings could be built on the site of the former Co-operative Society funeral parlour in Bourne Court.

The funeral home was open from the 1970s unto; 2012 and included coffin workshops and a chapel of rest but was demolished when they company relocated to Wimpole Road four years ago.

Residents have lodged a total of 13 objections to the scheme.

All three developments will be discussed by Colchester Council's planning committee on Thursday.
