CREATIVE arts students showed off their considerable talents with a stunning exhibition.

The pupils at Colchester Institute held a display which enabled them to present their work to a varied audience which included everyone from their friends and family to influential guests from the creative industries as well as college staff and members of the public.

Director of faculty for creative arts Andrew Allen praised all the students for their efforts over the past year to get the quality of the work to such a high standard.

He said: "It takes an enormous amount of energy on the part of students and staff to produce an exhibition of this variety and quality. It’s wonderful to see the culmination of work that happens over a full academic year."

Photography student Paige Veitch, 22, challenged herself by moving away from her favourite portrait shots.

She said: "The concept for my piece emerged through the idea of work in progress, with a focus on an outsiders perspective on the space where artists and makers create and how spaces can be overlooked by some but not by others."

Graphic design student Nick Castone, 28, based his project around the diets of students.

He said: "I thought of the concept when I came up with the idea for a food app – as there is little information about this online. I’ve really enjoyed my time studying for my degree – other than the skills that I have learned on the course, I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends.

"Next year, I want to apply for a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art.”
