SHOCKED residents have described how they saw a man surrounded by a fleet of police cars and arrested.
Officers arrested a man who had been driving a silver Ford Focus in Harwich Road, Colchester, shortly after midday on Friday.
One onlooker said: "I was in the garden and heard the cars making the noise outside.
"The police were right there blocking the road, initially both ways and they were blocking a bus in at one point.
"Then they got this young lad out of the car and put him on the floor.
"It was really quite dramatic - I was thinking how many more police are going to turn up?
"We hear quite a lot of sirens because it is a busy through road, but nothing really here."
The man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for a police car and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
He has now been bailed until August 26, pending further enquiries.
