A FUNDRAISING day is to be held to help a Colchester youngster.

Alfie Leggett, one, was born with Norrie Disease - a rare condition which restricts his sight and will most likely cause him to become deaf as he grows up.

His dad, Tommy, 35, of Eight Ash Green, has raised more than £20,000 to pay for Alfie's operations and care in the last year.

Now the Colchester community is playing its part.

The fundraising event will be held in the Kings Arms, in Crouch Street, on Bank Holiday Monday.

As well as a barbecue and a raffle, visitors can also witness fundraisers completing horrible challenges such as a back wax and sitting in a pool of beans for six hours.

One staff member is also allowing friends to shave off his hair.
