SUPER Marios, Mexicans and Disney princesses were all in attendance as students celebrated their last day at school.

The Year 13 students at Colchester County High School for Girls took part in the annual tradition of donning fancy dress for their final day of lessons before preparing for their A-level exams.

The selective school is one of the top in the country for its examination results but for one day, fun, not studies was on the curriculum.

Among the creative fancy dress costumes were Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland and the Cat in the Hat as well as two 118 runners, bananas and pirates.

Head teacher Gillian Marshall said the students had a fantastic day and she wished them well for their forthcoming exams.

She said: “I am incredibly proud of the students, they have been an outstanding year group, supportive of each other and of the school.

“Their final day at Colchester County High School for Girls was very colourful with an array of costumes.

“As can be seen from the photos, the sun was shining but our message to the girls was to bring your own weather to the picnic.

“We wish them every success in their forthcoming examinations.”
