A MALDON school was evacuated earlier today after receiving a "threatening call".

This morning Maldon Primary School and Plume Academy were evacuated following the Primary School receiving a threatening phone call.

Police and fire crews attended both schools before declaring the premises were safe and children and staff were allowed back into the buildings.

The situation has now been resolved.

Gill Marrion, Head Teacher for Maldon Primary School, said: “A threatening call was made to the school this morning, and pupils and staff were evacuated as a precaution. Police were made aware and attended the school.

“It would be inappropriate to comment further while that investigation is ongoing.”

The incident comes in light of several other schools across the UK receiving similar threatening calls.

Schools in Kent, Peterborough, Bedfordshire and Surrey all had students evacuated after threatening calls were received, causing havoc for students’ GCSE exams.
