WELSH alt-rock band The Joy Formidable are playing the Colchester Arts Centre as part of their latest tour.
Formed in 2007 in North Wales, the three-piece are made-up of Rhiannon "Ritzy" Bryan (lead vocals, guitar), Rhydian Dafydd (bass, backing vocals) and Matthew James Thomas (drums, percussion).
In 2010, the band signed to Canvasback Records, releasing their debut album, The Big Roar, early the following year. From the album the group released the singles, Austere, Cradle and Whirring.
Later that year the band's song Endtapes was featured on the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn film soundtrack.
The follow-up to Roar, Wolf's Law came out in 2013 with their third studio album, Hitch, released in March this year.
Hitch, by the band's own admission is the product of adopting a more minimal approach in production style, dubbed by Ritzy as 'one of the most driving records we've made but also the saddest'.
Self-produced and recorded in their studio in North Wales, the three-piece are now out on the road promoting it, arriving at the Colchester Arts Centre on Friday, May 13 from 7pm. Tickets are £15, available in advance by calling 01206 500900 or on-line at www.colchesterartscentre.com
