A MAN who died after being hit by a bus has been named locally as Michael Byles.

The 39-year-old Frinton man died from his injuries two days after the accident in Colchester's Hythe Hill last Wednesday.

He had been rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge but died from his injuries on Friday.

Tributes continue to be posted on the Gazette's Facebook page, where he was described as a "true legend".

Pal Stacey Nial said: "I don't really know what to say as it is all still very unreal.

"Michael was like a brother to me. He was my brother Jamie's best friend and had been there for me since I was little in all the hard times.

"He was there when I lost my three-year-old daughter's twin. He was so supportive of me and my husband and other children.

"He came to my scan with me. He always told me he would always be my big ginger brother.

"He cared for all his family and friends with a fierce loyalty and I can honestly say that there will never be a day that goes by that I don't miss him or think of him."

She added: "Michael was one of a kind. He walked in a room and his presence filled it. He had a smile that would cheer up the most miserable person.

"Myself, my husband Toby and my children are never going to forget him. I love him and always will I just hope he's at peace."

Jodie Ross said: "I will truly miss you mate with all of my heart. May your soul rest in peace and your legacy and memory live on. I love you big man. Good night and god bless."

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and any passengers on the bus who have not yet come forward.
