ROLLERWORLD was whisked back in time to the 1990s for a video shoot by an indie band.

Band Young Astronaut chose the roller-skating rink in Colchester after liking the look of the website.

Chris Boakes, singer and guitarist for the band, said: “We wanted to shoot a video with roller skaters.

“We were searching around for a real 90s roller disco, we thought Rollerworld was a really good option.

“We saw some videos of the place and were interested in how it looked.”

The band posted a plea on their Facebook for the cast asking anyone with skating experience to get in touch.

“We had a lot of people who wanted to be in the video.

“We needed to shoot it in one day which was a challenge but fortunately everyone involved was really helpful.”

All people featured in the video except the main actress were members of the public.

Chris added: “I think it is fantastic, we are really, really happy."

Andy Starr, director of Rollerworld said: “We are pleased with the video. We have a can do attitude to television or pop music videos and we will try to go the extra mile to help people.”

Rollerworld has previously hosted Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway as well as part of an episode of the reality show The Only Way is Essex.

Rollerworld manager Karl Zabroski said: “We have been lucky enough to have quite a few music videos made at Rollerworld.

“But we are proud of this one because it shows off the uniqueness of the place – it is funky, cool and current.”

Young Astronaut’s new single Chasing El Dorado was released on April 5 with the accompanying video.

The band released their first album, Fawn, in 2012, and the follow up album is due out this year.
