A CARE home described as inadequate is putting residents at risk of overdosing on pain medication.
Ramsay Manor, in Ramsey, has been criticised twice in a year for its standards of care.
After a visit in April the home was told to improve but an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission found it was still failing.
The home, run by Essex County Care, is due to close later this month for essential maintenance and repairs, with several residents moving to homes owned by the company in Colchester. It is not just the building which needs improving.
The CQC branded safety of residents and leadership at the home as “inadequate”
The effectiveness, caring nature and responsiveness of the service were all said to “require improvement.”
Poor training and allocation of medicine were among the problems including failing to note when pain medication was given.
The report stated: “We identified shortfalls in staff understanding of consent, medication and moving and handling.
“The guidance for staff to follow to meet people’s health needs was not always clear.”
The home remains in special measures.
