A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a head-on car smash.
The collision occurred on Holt Drive, Colchester, just before 8am this morning and was between two cars.
Two fire crews from Colchester attended the scene and used specialist cutting equipment to free a woman from her vehicle.
She was taken to Colchester General Hospital by the ambulance service suffering with neck and back injuries.
She is not thought to be in a life-threatening condition.
Nearby Mersea Road was blocked while the casualty was helped out of her car.
Two other patients were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
