THE RSPCA has launched an appeal for information after two cats were found dumped in a crate in woods.

The cats, one black and one tabby and white, were found behind the Tesco store in Highwoods, Colchester by a member of the public.

The cats were suffering from skin lesions.

The member of the public contacted animal welfare charity, the RSPCA.

Its inspector Adam Jones is now investigating.

He said: “Both cats were very frightened and were in poor condition when they came in to us.

“I’d like to find out how they came to be dumped in this condition and at this location.

“Anyone with any information about these cats or what happened to them should call the RSPCA’s appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”

The discovery was made on Sunday January 10.

The pair of cats were then taken to the charity’s North East Essex branch, in Colchester.

They were then transferred to Leybourne Animal Centre, in West Malling, Kent.

The cats, now named Black and Magic, are being cared for by staff and are receiving treatment for skin lesions.

Leybourne’s deputy manager, Angelina Allingham, said: “Black and Magic have settled in well and are both delightful.”
