THIS band play powerful bluesy progressive jazz, with smoking Hammond organ, explosive guitar solos, and powerhouse drumming, all fronted by internationally acclaimed tenor sax and flute player and composer, Theo Travis.

• Creedence Clearwater Review, Colchester Arts Centre, Church Street, Colchester, tonight, doors 7.30pm. £13, £11 concessions. 01206 500900. DEDICATED to reproducing the unique sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival, the tribute band performs a range of their material consisting of all of their biggest, classic hits, album tracks and wonderful obscurities. That includes Bad Moon Rising, Up Around The Bend, Proud Mary, and Suzie Q.

BIZET’S gorgeous opera of lust and longing in the Far East returns to the Met in New York for the first time in 100 years. Soprano Diana Damrau stars as Leïla, the beautiful Hindu priestess pursued by rival pearl divers competing for her hand. Her suitors are tenor Matthew Polenzani and baritone Mariusz Kwiecien, who sing the famous duet “Au fond du temple saint”.

• Bourne Mill: A Window on to Colchester's Industrial past, Essex University, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester, tomorrow, 10am to 4pm. Free. 0844 249 1895. A PUBLIC conference exploring the rich history of Bourne Mill and the role that it, and the people connected with it, played in the local and regional community. Expert speakers will discuss the key themes of mills and milling; textiles and fashion; and social history. There will also be the unveiling of a set of bicycle-powered fulling-stocks, reconstructed as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project on the Mill's history.

Detailing the lives of the women involved in the Suffragette movement it stars Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep.
