Essex Road Policing has received numerous calls and reports from members of the public about speeding and boy racers.

Another vehicle was caught travelling at 66mph on Mundon Road in Maldon.

Both were sent summons to court.

One driver was caught travelling at 45mph on Holloway Road and then caught in Morrisons car park.

He was reported for speeding, careless driving and given a section 59 warning for using a vehicle in a manner causing alarm distress or annoyance.

If he is caught doing an offence in the vehicle again in the next 12 months it will be seized.

Essex Police’s casualty reduction officer Adam Pipe said: “This follows on from what we have been doing since the summer and the meeting with Maldon District Council in relation to the boy racers.

“It was an opportunity to focus on our high point offenders.

“Clearly we still have a lot of people living in Maldon hearing and seeing it and are concerned.

“I have had people tweeting me and emailing me about it.”
