A BRAINTREE woman has flown out to Mexico in a bid to find her missing partner, who has not been seen in thirteen days.

Josie Cox, who grew up in Fairview, Braintree, and attended Great Bradfords Junior School, flew out on yesterday to find her missing boyfriend Dean Lucas, who was last seen disembarking a ferry from Cabo to Topolobampa on Friday, November 20 at 10pm with his friend Adam Coleman.

The Australian pair were supposed to drive to Guadalajara after this and meet Miss Cox but never arrived.

Their families are worried following a report that their burnt out van may have been found with two bodies inside in the state of Sinaloa, known for its drug and gang-related crimes.

Gazette:

Posting to Facebook, Miss Cox issued a plea for information. She said: “It breaks my heart to do this but we are appealing for any information regarding Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman.”

“Their family and I are devastated and would kindly urge that you share this as far as you can and on any relevant social media sites or pages to help us find our boys.”

The families of the two men issued a statement through Australia's department of foreign affairs and trade saying they were aware of reports that the men had gone missing during a surfing trip to Mexico.

The statement said "a tragic event has occurred" and the families feared for their sons, but said they were waiting for details to be confirmed.

Mr Coleman's girlfriend, Andrea Gomez, initially said that she and Miss Cox would go the Sinaloa capital of Culiacan today with items that could provide DNA for testing to see if the two bodies reportedly found inside the van were the Australians.

Gazette:

Ms Gomez said she had "pieces of dreadlocks" given to her by Mr Coleman, while Miss Cox arrived in Mexico on Sunday with Mr Lucas' dental records.

From Guadalajara she said: "Everything points to it being them because the van matches; it had a bicycle. But nothing is confirmed yet.”

The Australian foreign ministry said consular officials were working with Mexican authorities to locate the two men.
