A CHARITY which supports brain injury survivors has a new mascot.

Frankie Forget-Me-Not is the new mascot for Headway Essex.

The Forget Me Not flower was chosen by brain injury sufferers as being representative of memory loss which many experience after an injury.

It is also a symbol of how patients sometimes feel they have been forgotten once they leave hospital following a brain injury.

Headway Essex received donations to help buy the mascot including from staff at Sainsbury’s Local on Layer Road.

Joanne Hockey, from Headway, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Sainsbury’s Local and we are so grateful to all of their staff for their support as well as their generous customers.”

Frankie Forget-Me-Not will help to raise awareness of the work of the charity and also raise awareness of the devastating effects of brain injury.

The mascot will be visiting schools throughout Essex to help students learn of ways to look after their brains and the importance of protecting their heads.

Any school which would like a visit from Frankie can contact Headway on 01206 547616.
