NOVEMBER sees the traditional changeover of captains at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club.

At the annual meetings of the sections the members thank the outgoing Captains for all their hard work and welcome the new.

Ian Thompson has become the new club captain with Don Wiggins as his vice-club captain.

They join Betty Cox the new lady captain, Sam Nixon as junior captain, seniors captain Lionel Hatch and lady veterans captain Geraldine Russell.

All the meetings were followed by the new captains’ drive in. At the main meeting, Richard Allen was appointed as the Hon Treasurer, Elaine Davidson also joined the committee, Marcus Harden and John Sandford returned for a second term.

Ian Thompson congratulated outgoing club captain, Julian Lamb, for his successful year.

Thompson announced that his charity for 2015-16 would be Prostate Cancer.

There was a big field of players on both the Gainsborough and Constable courses to compete in the Drive In competition.

The winners on Gainsborough were Del Pritchard and Karl Cansdale with 44 points while on Constable Steve Hewett and David Wilson scored 41 points.

At the Junior annual meeting, Alex English handed over the responsibilities of junior captain to Samuel Nixon.

Nixon thanked English for being a fantastic captain and hoped he would be able to replicate his good work.

Matthew Thompson was nominated as junior vice-captain.

Unfortunately, talented golfer Sam O’Brian is leaving the section after being a wonderful role model to the other junior members.
