POLICE have renewed their appeal for information about a stabbing which left an elderly man with life-changing injuries.

John Sales, 70, was stabbed in the back garden of his Hythe Hill, Colchester, home at about 5.40pm on Tuesday, November 10.

He is still in Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge recovering from multiple injuries.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and is next due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court in January.

Detective Chief Inspector Marina Ericson said: "A man has been arrested and charged in connection with this offence.

"Our investigation is continuing and I remain keen to hear from anyone, particularly in the Hythe Hill and Port Lane area, who may information relevant to this investigation, especially between the hours of 4.30pm and 7.30pm of November 10.

"I would also like to speak to businesses or individuals who have CCTV footage that covers this area.

"In particular, I would like to speak to anyone who saw a man described as white, tall and wearing camouflage trousers and a green top."
