THE magic number is two at a special comedy and music night taking place at the Three Wise Monkeys this weekend.

Colchester band Ghosts of Men are organising, as well as performing, at the event which will include an all duo line-up.

Leading the comedy on the night is popular local act Chutzpah and Hubris better known as Tim Young and David Hughes, who have been regulars of the local scene for many years.

Joining on the night will be Omar and Lee. Colchester funny boys gone rogue, this double act have been writing and performing together for many years in such illustrious places as the Edinburgh Fringe, Hackney Attic, Cockpit Theatre, and the Bat Country Festival in Norfolk.

In addition to their stage work, they've also shot a comedy short for Third Iris Film and will also appear in Flat 32, a new sitcom commissioned by Channel X Television Productions.

On the music front as well as the spiky funk-metal sounds of Ghosts of Men, there will be a set from Swivelman, an alternative rock outfit based in Colchester consisting of drums, bass and vocals.

Completing the musical proceedings are The Midnight Barbers from Chelmsford, who have been hotly tipped by the likes of NME, Q and Classic Rock Magazine as one to watch.

They’ve recently supported The Bohicas and have just come back from a UK tour supporting Misty Miller.

Entry is £4, available on the doors, which open at 8pm this Friday, November 27.
