LIFE on an allotment was captured in a series of photographs.
And a snapshot of foxgloves was selected as the best of the bunch in the inaugural Colchester Allotment Photographic competition.
Mike Carrington, from Colchester, who was voted the overall winner, took the picture at his allotment off Drury Road.
He said: "I really enjoy having an allotment. I just saw the beautiful foxgloves on my neighbour’s plot and took a snapshot on my phone.
“I’m delighted to have won and it was nice to meet with other allotment holders and see all the stunning photos on display.”
The competition, run by Colchester Council and Poplar Nurseries in Marks Tey, was open to all allotment holders in the borough.
The categories were wildlife, landscapes, wildflowers and produce and plants.
The competition will return next year.
