IT’S probably one of the nation’s best loved television programmes and now the theatrical production is fast becoming as popular.

That’s The The Only Way is Downton written and performed by actor, impressionist and internet sensation, Luke Kempner.

If you don’t know already know, Luke is the star of YouTube hit Downstairs At Downton, where he impersonates the various inhabitants of the world’s most famous country house.

Building on the multi-character original scenario of that, Luke has now created an original story in which the characters of Downton Abbey are in crisis and have to call upon modern celebrities in their appeal to save the Dowager’s country pile from certain closure.

Directed by Owen Lewis, who most recently staged solo shows for Suggs, and Hardeep Singh Kohli, and has previously being involved the West End and international hit Pete and Dud: Come Again, Luke’s show has already had two sell-out Edinburgh runs, two West End seasons and a number of UK tours.

A graduate of the Guildford School of Acting, Luke has recently appeared in Sleeping Beauty for Salisbury Playhouse, played the Professor in the UK tour of South Pacific, and created a role in a new musical called LIFT at the Soho Theatre in London.

Now following recent appearances in the musicals Les Mis and Avenue Q, Luke is once again donning his top hat and tails, as well as a pinny or two, as modern-day celebrities start appearing at the Abbey, mashing up both cultures and eras in an hilarious new parody.
