20 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested after being discovered walking between Finchingfield and Wethersfield.

It is suspected the men were left there by a lorry driver at about noon on Saturday.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended and arrested 20 men on suspicion of immigration offences.

"They were later transferred into the care of the UK Border Force."

A spokesman for the Home Office confirmed that 20 men - 10 were from Iraq, five from Iran, three from Syria, one from Kuwait and one from Vietnam - had been arrested.

One of the males claimed to be a minor and has been referred to Social Services.

The remaining individuals are being processed in line with Home Office immigration procedures.
