RUNNERS are being asked to don their onesies as part of a wacky fundraising event.

Head injury charity Headway Essex is hosting a Onesie Runsie at Colchester’s Castle Park on Sunday with dozens of people expected to race around in their best one piece outfits.

This year the charity have teamed up with Colchester United and U’s mascot Eddie the Eagle will be on hand to start the race at 10am.

Entrants can choose whether to tackle a 5km or 1km course.

Headway fundraiser Jo Hockey said the charity was hoping to build on the success of last year’s run which was the first time the charity had organised the race.

She said: “This is the second time we have run it and the first time was absolutely brilliant.

“There was approximately 100 people running around from parents to teenagers to little children last year so it was quite a sight.

“It was really good fun and we are hoping to do the same thing this year.

“We have also organised a fun warm up event for people to join in with before we get started.”

Prizes will be given to the runners who cross the line first and to people who wear the best onesies.

Entrants can register in advance at headwayessex.org,uk or sign up on the day.

The event costs £15 to enter for adults, £5 for the under-12s and is free for the under-threes.
