A CARDBOARD city acted as home for charity staff who slept rough for World Homeless Day.
Emmaus Colchester, a homeless charity based on the High Street, slept overnight in their shop window to raise awareness.
They raised £30 which will go towards Beacon House on East Hill, another homeless charity.
Greg Davidson, business manager, said: "It went really well and we raised £30 from people giving coins. Every little we can do helps.
“There were some very interesting responses, some people were really engaged but the staff and companions did get some abuse.
“It was a very realistic experience, we went out of our comfort zones to help those less fortunate.”
Emmaus Colchester also collected items for those living on the streets, including backpacks, blankets, new socks and underwear, tooth brushes and thermos flasks.
The event took place on Saturday, October 10 at Emmaus Home on the High Street.
