AN aspiring singer has gained more than 5,000 followers on Facebook after she was seen performing online “alongside“ Jessie J.

Georgia Box, 20, of Ipswich Road, Colchester, used an app called Smule to sing along with a prerecorded video of the Brit Award nominee and the Voice coach Georgia has seen her fan base expand further than she could imagine.

She said: “My social media has been going crazy. The Jessie J video has made things go quite mad.

“People have said it is the best one they have seen, I have had some really nice feedback.”

Georgia has ambitions to get signed by a record label and hopes her social media exposure will help.

She wrote to Music Crown, a website promoting up-andcoming artists, asking if they would feature one of her videos.

Her cover of Jess Glynne’s “Hold My Hand”

was shared on its Facebook page.

Georgia said: “Since those two videos I have had another 5,000 followers on social media and they are still rising.”

Next month she will be writing her first single with renowned songwriter Cash Taylor, who has worked with artists such as Jessie J and Little Mix. It will be followed by a music video.

Georgia, a former member of Colchester Stagecoach theatre group, said she is grateful for the support and opportunities she has been given by her agent, Collum Entertainment .

She said: “I have been singing all my life but last year I graduated from the Tiffany Theatre College and was signed with the music company.

“I have been really working hard on my exposure over social media and have had some great opportunities from the company.”

Georgia began singing aged five and by the age of seven she had taken to the stage at the Royal Opera House in London.
