SCHOOLCHILDREN looked on with pride as their work went on display at Colchester’s Firstsite art gallery.
Pupils at North Primary, Colchester, have been researching the lives of 75 ex-pupils who served and died in the First World War.
On Friday, their We Will Remember project went on display, where it will remain until August.
It includes a roll of honour featuring all the names, which will be moved to the school’s hall when the exhibition ends.
Headteacher Alan Garnett said: “The exhibition opening ceremony was one of the proudest moments of my career.
“The project brought together the school’s past and present.
“To see the role of honour for the first time was inspirational.
“The children have had an experience that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.”
The ribbon was then cut by school governor Sheila Walker, who has two ancestors on the roll of honour.
