Great Expectations came to life as marching bands, majorettes and a medley of floats paraded through Coggeshall for the annual carnival.
Up to 1,000 people visited the town on Saturday as the colourful carnival procession featuring visiting queens and their courts travelled from Honywood Community Science School through the town centre to the recreation ground.
There visitors enjoyed stalls, fairground stalls, dancing acts, tug of war and music from the Colne Engaine band.
Creativity shone at the first Coggeshall Bake Off, which included biscuits, decorated cupcakes and Victoria sponges.
