Ooh la la!
Primary school children in Witham took a trip to the heart of France while staying in their classrooms as they celebrated Bastille Day.
Pupils at Holy Family Primary School, in Maltings Lane, spent the day immersed in the French language and culture to mark the anniversary of the storming of Bastille prison in 1789, while helped spark the French Revolution.
To commemorate the occasion, the school staged an assembly entirely in French and served up traditional French cuisine, including a variety of pungent cheeses.
Teacher Veronica Lonegan, who organised the event on Monday alongside learning support assistant Catherine Sanderson, said: “The children and staff looked amazing this week, they were kitted out in their French colours."
