Courageous paramedics who fought to save the lives of people involved in a horrific head-on crash have been awarded for their bravery and teamwork.
Eight members of the East of England ambulance service, who dealt with the crash in Braintree Road, Gosfield, which claimed the lives of three men, were honoured at a special ceremony in Ipswich last Wednesday.
Emily Hargreaves, Gaynor Scaife, Sarah Ford, Colin Putley, Chris Connor, James Samouelle, Dave Bacon and Alex Watts were all given commendations after they did “absolutely everything they could” to help the people involved.
The crash, involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Fiesta on December 7, claimed the lives of James Simmons, 18, David Bradley, 30, and 21-year-old Coz Powell, who died days later from his injuries at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.
Paramedic Alex Watts, in a rapid response car from Braintree, was the first on the scene and helped rescue people from inside the two burning cars with members of the public.
