A PAINTING by Dedham artist Sir Alfred Munnings has been sold at auction.
The painting, a portrait by Munnings of his friend and fellow artist Maurice Codner, was one of the star lots in Bonham’s 19th century European, Victorian and impressionist sale in London.
Entitled Sketching at Wiston Bridge, it sold for £140,500 to a trade buyer.
The painting had been described by the auction house as an “expressive work”
which was testament to the friendship between the artist and his sitter – and to Munnings’ masterly technique
