LIBRARIES around Essex are hoping to make it into the record books with the summer reading challenge.
A total of 20 libraries are aiming to set a new world record for the most number of pledges received for a reading campaign.
Children will be asked to pledge to visit their local library to read over the summer, while adults and volunteers will be asked to pledge to support children in their reading.
The challenge will start on July 11 and run until September 5. Last year more than 42,800 children in Essex took part.
